The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has announced the arrest of a suspect in the Kangemi area.

In a statement on Monday, June 1, DCI said detectives from Embakasi launched an operation after a firearm was reported missing.

"Acting on intelligence leads and guided by painstaking forensic analysis, detectives from Directorate of Criminal Investigations Embakasi, under the command of the SCCIO Embakasi, mounted a swift and coordinated operation following the reported theft of a firearm belonging to a licensed firearm holder," DCI said.

The intelligence operation took the officers to Nairobi's CBD where they arrested 42-year-old man, John Bosco Munyao.

Kayole Police Station officers arrested three suspects and recovered a loaded firearm along Kangundo Road. The operation began when patrolling officers pursued a suspicious motorcycle carrying three riders who fled into Saika Estate. During the chase, 19-year-old Shem Kariuki Ondieki dropped a Retay Falcon pistol loaded with 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition before being apprehended alongside the rider, Emanuel Maina Kioi. Following a subsequent manhunt into Dandora Phase Four, detectives successfully tracked down and arrested the third suspect, Samwel Okoth Ochieng, neutralizing a significant threat to public safety in the Eastlands area.
