Fresh evidence presented in court has raised new questions surrounding the death of blogger Albert Ojwang, with CCTV footage reportedly showing him being assaulted inside the cells at Central Police Station.
The footage, presented by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), allegedly contradicts earlier claims that Ojwang sustained injuries through self-inflicted harm. According to evidence presented in court, Ojwang was later removed from the cells while unresponsive.
The case has also raised allegations of a possible cover-up, including claims that CCTV footage was deleted and police booking records were falsified.
Six suspects are currently facing trial in connection with Ojwang's death. The evidence presented in court is expected to play a key role as the prosecution seeks to establish what happened inside the police station and determine individual responsibility.
