The final evacuation flight landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on July 9, 2026, marking the end of the taxpayer-funded humanitarian mission launched to assist Kenyans affected by the unrest.
Government officials said the operation was undertaken to ensure the safe return of citizens who had requested assistance after insecurity disrupted their livelihoods and threatened their safety.
With the completion of the evacuation programme, the government announced that any further travel arrangements for Kenyans wishing to leave South Africa will now be made at their own expense.
