Experts Warn of Growing Mental Health Emergency Among Young People

The youth mental health crisis is a profound global and local public health emergency, with an estimated one in seven young people worldwide experiencing a mental disorder. In Kenya, recent findings from the Kenya National Adolescent Mental Health Survey reveal that a staggering 44 percent of adolescents have battled a mental health problem over the past year. Driven by systemic, economic, and digital pressures, this silent crisis is increasingly resulting in high rates of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and tragic cases of student unrest.
