Former Tigania East Member of Parliament (MP), Josephat Gichunge Kabeabea, has been charged for the second time in less than 10 days over allegations of defrauding investors.The Daily Nation reports that Kabeabea faces 24 counts of obtaining money by false pretenses in relation to a greenhouse horticulture venture.The Case and AllegationsThe Sum Involved: The former legislator allegedly defrauded investors of Sh25.2 million nine years ago.The Plot Specifics: Court details state that between February and June 8, 2017, Kabeabea fraudulently obtained Sh10.19 million from multiple individuals. He falsely claimed he would sell them 13 plots of land, 12 fully developed greenhouses, and fencing.The Venue: Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina dismissed a request to transfer the case to Kajiado. The trial will remain in Nairobi, where the alleged offenses were committed.Bail Denied Over Separate WarrantChief Magistrate Onyina ruled that Kabeabea cannot be granted bail until he resolves a separate, outstanding legal matter. The court took judicial notice of a pending warrant of arrest issued by the Anti-Corruption Court. Consequently, the former MP has been returned to the Industrial Area Prison, where he remains in custody.
