Shekel Mobility is transforming Kenya's automotive trade by providing vehicle dealerships with digital financing solutions that make importing and stocking vehicles more accessible and efficient.
The fintech company, backed by Y Combinator, connects car dealers, international vehicle suppliers and financial institutions through a digital platform designed to simplify vehicle sourcing, financing and inventory management.
One of the biggest challenges facing Kenyan vehicle dealers has been limited access to working capital needed to import vehicles and meet the high costs associated with clearing them. Shekel Mobility seeks to address this through inventory financing that enables dealers to access pre-approved credit facilities for vehicle purchases.
Under the platform's financing model, eligible dealers contribute a portion of the vehicle's purchase price, while the remaining balance is financed through the company's credit facility. This approach allows dealers to increase inventory without tying up significant amounts of their own capital, helping improve cash flow and business growth.
Beyond financing, the platform also offers digital business tools that streamline inventory management and transactions, supporting a more efficient and transparent automotive marketplace.
