Former Chief Justice David Maraga has called for the resignation of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen following a violent attack on his convoy during a Linda Mwananchi political rally in the Keumbu area of Keumbu.

Maraga accused security agencies of failing in their constitutional duty to protect citizens, saying police officers stood by as suspected goons pelted motorists and members of his convoy with stones without taking action to stop the violence.

He expressed concern over what he described as the growing normalization of political hooliganism, warning that repeated acts of violence are being tolerated instead of being decisively addressed by law enforcement agencies.

The former Chief Justice argued that the continued security lapses reflect a broader failure of internal security, placing responsibility on Murkomen as the Cabinet Secretary in charge of national security. He maintained that the Interior Ministry should be safeguarding lives and property rather than presiding over what he termed a breakdown of law and order.
