Edwin Sifuna has been removed from the influential Senate Energy Committee in a fresh sign of widening divisions within Orange Democratic Movement.
The reshuffle was announced on the Senate floor by Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, with Moses Kajwang' taking Sifuna’s place on the committee chaired by Oburu Oginga.
The move highlights growing tensions within ODM over its relationship with President William Ruto and the broader political cooperation framework.
Sifuna has emerged as a leading voice of the Linda Mwananchi faction, which opposes continued alignment with the government, while leaders allied to Oburu Oginga have backed engagement with the ruling side.
His removal is also being linked to wider internal efforts to weaken his influence within ODM, including pressure surrounding his position as Secretary-General and his parliamentary leadership roles.
