The Kenyan opposition has fiercely condemned the government's decision to host a U.S.-led Ebola isolation and treatment facility, declaring that foreign billions are not worth the lives of citizens. Led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, the United Opposition accuses President William Ruto’s administration of recklessly exposing millions of Kenyans to a lethal biosecurity threat.The proposed 50-bed isolation unit is slated for construction at the Laikipia Airbase in Nanyuki, a highly guarded military installation in central Kenya. The facility is designed to quarantine and treat U.S. citizens exposed to Ebola in neighboring countries. While the government argues the project will boost local medical infrastructure, critics, doctors, and legal experts warn that a biosecurity breach at the base could devastate nearby communities. A Kenyan court has temporarily halted the project due to a lack of public participation.
